There are about
2800 species of termites worldwide.
In
Sri Lanka, there are 61 extant species of
termites out of which 49 species are found
only in Sri Lanka.
There are 10 very common
species of which 9 are a threat to building
structures. Recent industry surveys suggest
that about
50%
of all unprotected properties are subject to
