TERMICIDES USED WORLD WIDE

Difference between repellent & a non
repellent termiticide:
Liquid Chemical Barriers work by
killing or repelling subterranean
termites before they enter the
structure.
Chlordane, Chlorpyrifos, BiFlex, are
examples of repellent chemicals -
some more repellent than others. The
newest liquid barrier chemical
treatments are designed to be
totally non-repellent to
subterranean termites.
This non-repellency factor is a
great attribute in subterranean
termite control. Imidachloprid
registered as
Premise or Fipronil Termiticide.
Termites are not repelled by it and
in most cases cannot even sense that
the chemical is present and will
contact it and die. Another
interesting attribute of Premise/
Fipronil Termiticide is that is
causes the
termites to stop feeding on wood and
to stop socializing with other
termites. Unlike repellent chemicals
which can cause termites to simply
move over a few feet from the
treated area and enter a new
untreated
area, areas where a natural
repellency occurs tend to drive the
termites farther away which results
in
better control. For this reason,
non-repellent liquid barrier
chemicals are becoming the standard
in
subterranean termite control -
especially for performing spot or
localized treatments.
